“And for this I was born…”

Pilate therefore said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” John18:38

Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. He explained to Pilate the reason He was born.

Let’s look at why He was born into this world to be a king.  We should always be thankful that He came to save the world from the eternal lake of fire. That is what His name means, Jesus saves. In His infinite wisdom, our God has a wonderful plan to redeem us back to Him and into His family.  Jesus is always in agreement with His Father’s will, so He humbled Himself and came as a baby. The Word became flesh. He temporarily gave up His divine attributes.  As He stood before Pilate, He explained to him that He was a king but not of this world but of another kingdom, in a different realm. And for this He was born, to testify to the truth. The truth is, that He is the King over every leader, prince, prime minister and ruler.  Jesus, our kinsman Redeemer, came to ransom us out of the kingdom of darkness and into His kingdom of light.

He is coming a second time to overthrow the governments on the earth and He will establish His government.  “When the seventh angel blew his trumpet, there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” Revelation 11:15

This season we are celebrating that the King of the Jews has been born, died, rose again and is coming back for us to reign with Him in His Kingdom. He will transform us, unify the Church and release us to rule. There will be no end to the increase of His kingdom. This is what we pray often, that His kingdom would come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This Christmas season, we are remembering Jesus was born into a family. This just shows how intimate He is with us. And now we are also looking forward to His coming again.

Your eyes will see the King in His beauty. Isaiah 33:17

Sovereign God, would you give us a spirit of revelation of the King’s beauty this Christmas season.
